Defect Management

Feature availability

AirData’s Defect Management feature allows you to track and monitor equipment damage, manufacturing faults, and other hardware or software issues.

Defect Management is a part of AirData's Asset Management add-on.

1. Adding a Defect

A. Add a Defect from EQUIPMENT -> DRONES

To log a defect for a specific drone, head to EQUIPMENT → DRONES → Select a Drone → DEFECTS → + Create Defect

B. Add a Defect from an Existing Defect

You can also head to MANAGE → DEFECTS and select an existing defect to log a new defect for that piece of equipment.

C. Save Defect Details

You will need to provide basic information such as a title, the date of occurrence, and the type of defect. You can also link a related flight, provide a description, and upload supporting documents.

You can upload additional documentation from a Defect’s Documents tab or when updating the resolution progress. (See next section).

2. Updating Defect Resolution Status

Open a Defect’s Overview page and click Change stage to provide updates on resolution progress.

You can log notes for each update, along with fields such as case numbers, RMA numbers, and severity ratings.

Some stages are optional and can be skipped.

The available progressions are:

  • Identified
  • Review
  • Awaiting Repair
  • Sent Out
  • Post Repair
  • Test Flight
  • Closed

3. Monitoring Defects Account-Wide

A. Defects Overview

Head to MANAGE → DEFECTS to see an Overview page with a summary of all active and resolved defects.

You will be able to see the number of open defects, the number of defects at different stages of resolution, and a list of the most frequently affected equipment.

B. Defect "Events" History

To track progress on a specific defect, head to its Events tab.

You will see a chronological history of updates with timestamps and notes for each entry.
